Story

Hi there!

 

This year, I'm going to sleep rough for one night to support the work of Rough Edges.

I'm making a difference by fundraising to support people experiencing homelessness and marginalisation. 


Through my school I was able to visit Rough Edges, and I really connected with both the other volunteers but also with the people who came into Rough Edges. I played scrabble with one lady and learnt her life story whilst speaking French, and by the time 9:30pm came around, I didn't want to leave. I truly believe that every cause needs support, but helping Rough Edges holds a special spot in my heart, and I hope that whoever is reading my page now will know that as well.

    St John's Community Services Limited was established to fund and maintain a number of targeted services for the disadvantaged and marginalised in the Darlinghurst and Kings Cross area. Including:
    Rough Edges Cafe -a place for the street community to have a coffee, enjoy a free meal and spend time together in a safe and welcoming environment
    Banksia Women - a safe, judgement free space for women who have experienced domestic and family violence
    St Johns Legal Service - we contract a solicitor to assist those needing help with free legal services and referrals.
